About Iron Ethos

Iron Ethos comes out of a factory, not a marketing deck. The family behind it has been making knives since 1998, and that shows up in the parts people don't see: steel sourcing, heat treat, how tight the handle fits the tang. We build knives that perform without overclaiming what they are.

Form, Balance, and Purpose are the three standards we apply to every piece we make.

Production

Each knife is built to a written spec. Before a piece ships we check blade geometry, grind angle, hardness after heat treat, handle fit, and how well the sheath holds the knife.

Use & Care

Wipe the blade dry after use and keep it in the sheath when you're not using it. A drop of oil on the blade now and then keeps rust away. Hand wash only. Don't pry with it.

Blade Material

14C28N

14C28N is a stainless steel from Sandvik in Sweden, developed specifically for knife blades. Added nitrogen lets it run at 58–60 HRC and still stay tough enough that the edge rolls instead of chipping when you hit something hard.

It sharpens easily on an ordinary stone and shrugs off humid, wet conditions, which is why you'll find it on so many outdoor knives. It won't hold an edge as long as premium powder steels, but it's much easier to bring back.

Handle Material

G10

G10 is fiberglass cloth soaked in epoxy and pressed under heat into a solid slab. It's what most working knives use for handle scales because it doesn't crack, doesn't swell with water or oil, and weighs less than metal.

We machine texture into the surface, so the grip stays put with wet or sweaty hands. The color runs all the way through the material rather than sitting on top, so scuffs don't show the way they do on a coating.
